Friday Fun is a group post from the writers of the NHWN blog. Each week, we’ll pose and answer a different, get-to-know-us question. We hope you’ll join in by providing your answer in the comments.
QUESTION: If you wrote an autobiography, what would it be called?
Lee Laughlin: A variation of this question was the topic of discussion on a local, morning, radio show recently. I couldn’t come up with anything fast enough to call in and contribute to the discussion, but a title came to mind later in the day.
A book about me would be called Let’s Do This! I’m a very action oriented person. As I’ve aged, I’ve learned to pause before I leap into a project, but that pause is still fairly brief. I really like to get my hands into things and adjust course as necessary.
There would definitely be a chapter titled Chasing Serenity. As I’ve aged, I have come to appreciate the benefits of being still and present in the moment. Usually on my sun porch with a good cup of tea.
Julie Hennrikus: What a great question! I’d love it to be something poignant, like Grace & Gratitude. Or Chasing Joy. But I suspect, when I finally get to it, it will be Happily Ever After? or That’s It?
.
Jamie Wallace: This is a tough question. First of all, the thought of writing an autobiography/memoir gives me hives. It’s not that I don’t admire the genre, but the thought of having to write about myself for that many pages – ugh.
As for a title … I think I’d like it to be something optimistic, a little humorous, and also – looked at from another angle – insightful/philosophical. But … no pressure. I love the titles of Tina Fey’s and Amy Poehler’s memoirs – Bossypants and Yes, Please, respectively. (I enjoyed both, by the way.)
Seriously. I can’t come up with anything clever or fun. Instead, enjoy this list of 69 Awesome and Awful Autobiography Titles that I found via the magic of Google. Enjoy!
Diane MacKinnon: I have no idea what my autobiography would be called. Maybe You Went to Med School to Become a What?! or how about The Serial Beginner. When I read this question I immediately thought of my mom. She always said the title of her autobiography would be Five Kids, Four Bananas.
Hurrying To Nowhere, or simply my user name here. Or Pieces Of Broken Dreams, When The Going Gets Tough (hardly original) possibilities are endless.
“Why Didn’t I Think of That?” or “Oops, Sorry!” maybe “Wait! I Wasn’t Finished With That!”
Such is life:
The story of a storyteller
ECHO ECHO
There are a few titles that I’ve thought of using:
“Leave No Evidence”
“Out the Exit and Other Radical Concepts”
“Don’t Help Me, I Have Enough Trouble”
“Computers, Hammers, and Too Much Wine”
I’ll let you know if I think of more…
“Something for Everyone” because I have a very versatile background in writing, photography, marketing and sociology. Also, I have serious hobby interests in xeriscape gardening, traditional crafts and interior design. I hope to put it all together after I graduate next year as an entrepreneur and marketer for my small business selling home and garden décor on Amazon.
“There’s No Me In Mommy” or “Wait…why did you do that?”
I’d do a biography of my mother first. “The Girl Who Struck Back”
“A Complicated Life” 😀 that could be one of the title…
I believe writing an autobiography would be the hardest thing I would ever do in my writing life. I think I would hate having to be so self-focussed. I guess the only title I can think of is quite bland “Ever searching soul’. My kids have asked me to do this but I do prefer to write fiction and encouragement in life truths.
Flexible to a Fault.
‘Reflections from the rear view mirror’ I have a tendancy to ponder over things of the past. 🙂
Well! I think “Writing Sky” or “The Little Writer” would be good but I like “a little writing bird” too.
I would call it as
“Words for the World, Skies full of Stars”
“Tales from Another Broken Home” !
“Mind vs Heart”
