Into the deep, dark forest I go…
I’m afraid I must away for a while, my friends. The time has come, the clock run down, and Move Day is nearly upon us.
Yes, after a month of pell-mell mini renovations, minor crises, and painting, next Saturday is The Big Day. This time next week we will be hauling all our belongings, our tired selves, and two bewildered cats to our new home only ten doors up the street. It’s exciting and exhausting, and would be impossible except for the generous help of family and friends. It really does take a village.
I will miss being here with you this week and next, but time and energy are limited and I must dedicate all I have to surviving this heroine’s journey to our new nest. I plan to return on September 19th, and am SO looking forward to “seeing” you all and maybe (if you’ll indulge me) sharing a few pics of the new writer’s lair.
Until then, be well, read good stories, and don’t forget to write!

Good luck with the move!
Thank you, Anita! 🙂
Happy moving
That is definitely the goal, Karen: Happy! 🙂 Thanks!
The repacking and redistribution of stuff in every move can be liberating, can’t wait to hear the new perspective from your new perch.
I am very much looking forward to lightening the load (again – we’ve moved 4 times in the past 7 years). My ultimate goal is to have a real “tiny house,” but I’m years away from that.
I look forward to being back and sharing the adventure!
Great opportunity to declutter too! Wishing you a joyful move. Yeah, kind of a pain in the ass, but, as the mindfully wise monks say “chop wood, carry water.”
Ah, yes. Wise monks. Today I am scrubbing down kitchen cabinets in preparation for painting them (wish me luck!), prepping a shower for painting (yes, you can paint a shower – who knew?!?), and assisting my beau who is finishing out what will be the laundry room & building my daughter a raised bed (like half a bunk). I pretty much AM chopping wood and carrying water! 😉
TKS!
I moved into my current house 15 years ago. I am still suffering from the trauma of that move.
Hope your move is easier.
Thanks, Andrew. I hope so, too!!!
(I admit, I’m curious about your story now …)
I can relate. I moved places every 3 years for the last 15 years, every time buying a new place. Tiring really.
Yes, my daughter and I have moved 4 times in the past 7 years, and it IS exhausting. Hoping this will be the last move for a good, long while!
Sending you the strength of The Jedi and Wonder Woman while you move 🙂 look forward to hearing from you next week 🙂
Ooh! That sounds like a fabulous combination. Thank you!
What a coincidence, Jamie! About half an hour ago, I posted a piece almost similar to yours, in intent but not in contents. Enjoy your moving, and I’ll enjoy my traveling.
Russ
Exciting things happening in your world, too? 🙂
I hope your time away is for a happy reason. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks … hopefully more or less in one piece.
You, too!
I truly hope all goes well. Moving is hardest job in the world. I really look forward to the pics of the new writer’s lair!
Thanks. They say that moving is in the top 3 most stressful life experiences … right up there with losing a loved one, getting fired, and getting married/divorced. Lovely, right? I’m trying to make this a more positive kind of stress – hopefully! 🙂
Enjoy your heroine’s journey to your new nest lol :). See you in a couple of weeks xo
Thank you, Sara.
Things are truckin’ along, but – wow! – everything takes longer than I thought. Still, all things considered, it’s going well. My washer and dryer arrived today, so – yay! 😉
TTYS!

Plan in some rest time during this busy time. Happy nesting to you.
I’m afraid that’s one thing I forgot to figure into my plans, but I’m doing my best to make some rest time on the fly. I actually read for a half hour last night … and it was lovely.
Thanks for the “happy nesting” wishes!
We’ll be along for the ride as you begin this new chapter in your life! All the best.
Thank you, Elaine. It’s so nice to have company! 🙂
“I choose the road less traveled by and that has made all the difference ” -A line taken from ‘The Road Not Taken’ by Robert Frost
Lovely poem. Perennial favorite. I’m taking the road less traveled when it comes to how I’m painting my kitchen cabinets. The pro painters I know are cringing, but I love it! 😉
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference
Still ’round the corner there may wait
A new road or secret gate;
And though I oft have passed them by,
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun.
Hi you all!

WOOTWOOT – Congratulations! #HUGSSSSSSSSSSSS
I am glad you are taking a break, Lizzie, because I need to catch up on my favorite blogger’s DELISH posts 😀
LOVE YOU
Kitto
LOL … it’s not much of a break on this end of things, but it’s a change, that’s for sure. And, painful as it is, change can be good, too. I’m counting on it.
TKS! 🙂
HAHA – that’s true! I meant – a ‘break from writing’ 😉
This move is the beginning of a delightful chapter in your life, sweetie #HUGSSS
Shed your past and step into your new (and shiny!) togs! 😉
Great post! Loved reading this!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for stopping by.
All the best. Moving is fun… and it’s not! Looking forward to your return!
Thanks, Jessica! Me, too! 🙂
Hope your move goes smoothly. Can’t wait to see photos!
Thanks so much, Patti. Just trying to keep my balance at the moment. 😉
This amazed me. The photo gave me a lingering sensation.
